I saw Cherry Ghost at the
I saw Cherry Ghost at the Joiners in Southampton a couple of weeks ago and wanted to say thankyou for a fantastic night of live music. I've loved the 2 albums and all that I loved was there in the live versions, great sound, deep emotions and nice humour. Cherry Ghost are a great band and I hope you don't leave it too long to come back to Southampton - maybe the Brook next time - a sound as good as this deserves a better backdrop than the scuzziness of the Joiners!
Hello Cherry Ghost, Your set
Hello Cherry Ghost,
Your set in Newcastle was really inspirational. It's pleasing to see you guys building a fan base and I hope it continues. Be great to see you next year on the festival circuit!
They're out with The Coral
They're out with The Coral again, i think.
Leeds, next month?
Leeds, next month?
Birmingham Academy was
Birmingham Academy was unbelievable, it's been a long time since i enjoyed a gig like that. It was one great song after another and it was good to hear 'Hope She'll Be Happier'. Don't leave it another three years, lads.
Had a great night at
Had a great night at Sheffield despite some sound problems, and the set being cut short, enjoyed it just as much as Tuesday in Leeds. Great atmosphere both nights and Simon's vocals on top form. The highlight was talking to the band after the gig. Looking forward to the next album and another tour - Ill be there at the front again...
Aw man.. . what a gig last
Aw man.. . what a gig last night was at the Birm Academy. That was something special and the best gig of many this year.
I have been left in a post-amazing gig whirl, that only people who are love music may understand.
Looking forward to seeing you in Leeds next month. Maybe you could consider Leicester on the next tour.. x x
Great gig last night in
Great gig last night in Sheffield Academy although in my opinion, the first few songs sounded too loud and slighly distorted plus the nature of the venue (small) didn't contribute much for good acoustics. A minor shame really because one of the songs was my all time favourite... My mate (new to CG) thought they were great anyway but I did comment on the sound system and acoustics and informed him that CG sounded a lot better the last time I saw them(in Bradford St. Georges supporting Doves). 4am was my highlight of the night, sounded absolutely great. Look forward to the next installment whatever that might be.
Have to agree that it was an
Have to agree that it was an amazing gig at Stables, MK - first time I've seen CG live, & loved hearing the new material alongside favourites from the first album. Personally I enjoyed the live sound mix but these things are subjective.......& you can't please everyone, particularly those wanting a replication of the recorded mix. Great audience vibe as I left & plenty of people hanging around for a drink & every hopeful of meeting the band. Look forward to seeing you again at The Stables & enjoy rest of tour.
Really enjoyed the gig at
Really enjoyed the gig at Stables on Monday. I go to a lot of gigs but have never been to Stables before and I have to say I was really impressed by the acoustics of that place. To those that had problems with it, were you sitting on the sides, because directly in front of the band where we were it was fantastic. Genuine question, not having a go at anyone. Anyway Barberini Square sent shivers up my spine and overall thought it was great, much better than last time I saw CG in Cambridge. Cheers
So glad 'Finally' will
So glad 'Finally' will finally be released! Great news. Love the Mr Chop remix.

I have to say Monday at the Stables was the first time I have seen Cherry Ghost perform live. I absolutely loved every track - I came away on a high. Although, I have to agree with the sound balance issues. Looking forward to the next time.
One of the best gigs I've
One of the best gigs I've ever been to! Tuesday night at the Brudenell Social Club. What an opportunity to see such an accomplished band in such an intimate venue. Trumpet playing was more like something from the Buena Vista Social club, inspiring! Just listening to the free Mr Chop remix but I miss Simon's voice too much. Can't wait for Finally to come out then I can really get my dancing shoes on............
Thank you for a wonderful evening.
I like your term "workmanlike
I like your term "workmanlike band", Lozbags. That sums them up very well. They really are inspiring guys. Hats off to you for nice comments!
Amazing gig last night at the
Amazing gig last night at the Brudenell, can't get over Simon's voice, already sounds so rich on the albums but even better in the flesh!! Band were friendly and entertaining, perfect for such an intimate venue... Go the Ghost!
after the somewhat negative
after the somewhat negative comments about MK, the Ghost seemed liberated to be playing at a spit and sawdust social club in Leeds. We were so close to the stage we could see Simon's whites; and the band delivered a gracious, inspiring set - finishing with some CC Peniston. Not much stagecraft, and nowt manufactured, just a decent workmanlike band with no airs and graces. They still shift their own gear afterwards, and their aftergig transport more closely resembled one of those buses bound for an American correctional facility. I hope that things got air con. Well played, Cherry Ghosts!!
Quality gig @ Brudenell Club
Quality gig @ Brudenell Club in Leeds last night, it sounded superb.
What a great band, both musically and vocally, best live band I've seen for a long, long time.
Hopefully I will get to see you again soon.
Plenty of people were saying
Plenty of people were saying it as we left for the foyer after the concert at The Stables last night – far too loud and the sound system was terrible. The vocal mic was wrong and it was difficult to hear the words. The booming sound system drowned out every instrument, every riff and every solo. Was the guitar plugged in? We couldn't hear it above the wash of noise. The stage versions were unrecognisable from the recorded tracks. I didn't realise the band were playing 4am until the vocal came in. Many people in the audience streamed out before the encore. It was the first time I've enjoyed the support act more than the main event. And I wasn't the only one – the applause was louder for the support. I don't expect this comment to be posted – but please sort out that sound system for the rest of the tour.
At the Colchester gig last
At the Colchester gig last night and both Cherry Ghost and the support (Misery Guts) were brilliant.
Would be great to see you again soon.
Norwich Arts Centre gig on
Norwich Arts Centre gig on the 21st Sept was fantastic. I managed to drag along 2 uninitiated CG coleagues to the show. I think you may have 2 new fans! Was really pleased that the band did a good mix from their first, as well as new albums.
"Misery Guts" as a support act were also excellent. Bought the 3 EP CDs that they had on sale after the gig. Hightly recommended, listened to them in the car whilst driving from Norwich to the South Coast.
Luckily I'm in Southampton tomorrow night to see the show again at "The Joiners".
See you there.
