Sorry but did that bloke nip out to the loo or something - I distinctly remember singing along to Black Fang....? Thanks for posting Mathematics -one of my favourites but the entire night was amazing. Best yet Simon (even tho didnt get to chat to you after the gig)

They absolutely did not do

They absolutely did not do Black Fang! I was there for the whole thing!!!

Matt - pls accept my sincerest apologies. Thing is, I did sing along to Black Fang, but the night before at Manchester Cathedral. Thatll teach me to read before I post - it clearly says Union Chapel ....

Hehe, not to worry!m The irony is that the encore is usually when they do the most popular songs(s) but it turned out that the most popular song for many, Black Fang, got axed cos of the curfew! D'oh!

Just as well I went to

Just as well I went to Manchester then. Im hoping the sound was as amazing in London as it was in the Cathedral. Thought they sounded the best Ive heard them (only 4 times Im afraid - nowhere near enough) - and I managed to get 2 more friends converted after banging on about them for 12 months. Thanks for graciously accepting the apology!

Matt is this correct? I have a terrible memory, so I am not sure if they stuck to this set.

A truly awesome night - one I will remember for a long time. The guys seemed to love it too! The strings were stunning!

Yep, that looks about right.

Yep, that looks about right. The curfew meant they had to drop a song, and I suppose Black Fang lost out because they *had* to do Mathematics, and someone in the audience had shouted out a request for 4 Eyes early on, so I suppose they honoured that.

Kudos for getting the setlist off the stage though!

Yes, I'm on that! It makes for cringeworthy viewing!

You see, you shouldn't have

You see, you shouldn't have said that cos now I will watch again to see if I can spot you, ha ha!

Union Chapel last night,

Union Chapel last night, great gig. Beautiful venue, felt a bit odd, sitting in a pew, no leg room, knackering on the posterior, but gladly the music took up all my attention.

Loved the opening, My God Betrays, Simon on acoustic backed by the strings, heart-piercing stuff, cruelly poignant standing in front of the pulpit of a church.

I have to say I cannot believe Cherry Ghost doesn't have a much wider following yet, but, in utter, absolute selfishness, I'm glad, cos being able to enjoy the band in close proximity at the smaller, more intimate venues for me makes the music, the dramatic lyrics, even more potent and personal.

This music rips through you, tears you apart and leaves you begging for more. I think the twisted look of agony on Simon's face as he wrestles the lyrics out of his mouth plays it's dramatic part, and the total absorbtion of Jim on guitar, looking like a man trying to climb into his instrument and turn it inside-out. The total world of isolation that each member seems to exist in while they play, as if it takes all their concentration just to focus on their own vital role, demands that the audience listen and feel every layer, every musical expression with each song, each perfectly formed musical life-story of a song.

I can't get enough, i always want more. I adored Throw me to the dogs and Four eyes, great b-sides that are gladly not left in the shade, but happily re-visited by the band.

Thank you guys, this'll keep my batteries charged for a little while, but will need another fix before too long.
